REVIVING AIN AL-SIRA | Graduation project

Ain El-Sira was formed after the earth had ruptured during an earthquake in 1926, causing a rise in the underground water to the surface. It is considered as well for its therapeutic and curing effects, as both its water and clay were used to treat many skin disorders and diseases. However now it is polluted with sewage water from the informal settlements, and there is a proposal to filter its water from all the impurities. The project aims to reuse the water for its therapeutic purposes and to revive the lake corniche as an entertainment public space to enjoy the view of the lake.
This project is a part of an urban regeneration project "REVIVING THE OLD CAPITAL" al-Fustat, Cairo
along with 3 other architecture projects
Concept
Providing visitors with public spaces and waterfront pedestrian that they can enjoy the view to the maximum. Trying to enhance all the potential in the site which is rich with various advantages such as, the lake healing effects and the existence of the only mausoleum from the Ekhshadian era which is neglected, the National Museum of Civilization and al-Fustat garden. That is why the architecture project is divided into therapeutic, cultural and entertainment zones and reviving a corniche surrounding the lake.
