The project of the catalog of PHOTOGRAPHS FROM ALEKSANDRA CZOŁOWSKI'S COLLECTION, which presents a collection of photographs by Aleksander Czołowski, a Lviv historian, archivist, librarian, museologist, conservator and collector who lived at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, which were purchased by the National Library in 1947 from the daughter of Stanisława Karczewska. The publication describes the photos, which are part of a very diverse and rich archive, allowing to learn about the scientific technique of this extraordinary researcher, and in a broader perspective – it introduces the culture of the lands of the former Republic of Poland. It is a valuable source of knowledge also for people interested in collecting, conservation of monuments, history, and in particular – the history of urban planning.
