Fowl Art : the birds a series paintings and drawings

Fowl Art: the birds
watercolor and pen and ink drawings of birds with character (and 'characters as birds)
This portfolio is a tiny sampling of a project to illustrate many 'personalities' as birds.  It began as a poster idea for a fundraiser and grew to have a life of its own. I've painted over seventy-five birds thus far. Most sprang right from an idea in my head to the brush without any sketching. At least another hundred birds and some cracked eggs came to be over several cups of coffee with friends. Pen in hand I drew them inspired by an unsuspecting waitress, customer, or the topic of conversation. I let the birds evolve into what they will be. Some play games, many sing (of course!) and others hatched families. My plan is to develop both the poster (birds of different feathers flock together at 1st UU) and a book collecting the best with their names (Fern, Dinah the Disco Diva, etc.) and some captions.

Your comments are very welcome. I hope they bring a smile or even a chuckle. Enjoy.

An agreeable and optimistic conversation - sunflower seed futures are indeed looking up.

Eager green bird - Gwen remembering the breakfast buffet. The early bird got the worm, but I got  the seven seed waffles.

Dinah the disco diva - dancin', dancin', dancin'!!!!

These are watercolor illustrations of humorous birds - or people transformed into birds singing, dancing, chatting, and more.
