Artist Statement 

My work is representative of the New Hampshire 4000 footers, a list of 48 mountains over 4000 feet that many hikers strive to complete. I have been hiking the mountains in this list since I was 18. I have hiked 20 of the mountains and have always been drawn to the views throughout the hike and especially at the peaks of the mountains. My goal was to create posters that inspire the viewer to go hike these mountains. 

I created eleven posters, ten of which represent a mountain range containing at least one of the 4000 foot mountains, and one poster representing them all collectively. My eyes are often drawn to the contrast between the sky and the mountain ridge, so I included a line emphasizing this visually on each poster. The typeface that I chose is representative of text that is ingrained into trail signs I have seen on each hike. My illustrations are inspired by the views in my photographs of the hikes i've taken. 

My aim for this project is to inspire others to get outside and explore the world around them and especially to hike the 4000 footers of New Hampshire
