Number 1 of 4 in a series looking at the relationships between African mothers and their children.

The baby at the top of the waterfall is larger than usual to add emphasis and movement by drawing the viewer's' eye to the focal point of the artwork.

The mother on the left was made extra-large, looking at her from the perspective of the baby. As children, our mothers seem like larger-than-life figures, towering over us as we literally ‘look up' to them for everything we need.

The other was placed on the right to add symmetrical balance to the layout of the overall artwork.
