St. Louis Zoo Bee Garden Sculpture and Signage

P.A.U.S.E. : Pollinators, Art, Urban Agriculture, Society, Environment I was able to participate in a joint project (P.A.U.S.E.) between the St. Louis Zoo, Tohono Chul in Tucson, Arizona, and the National Museums of Kenya in Nairobi. The project was developed to help educate people on the vital role of pollinators in agriculture and the environment. The other goal was to design or enhance a new or existing garden that incorporates pollinators by building and installing a sculpture. The sculpture would serve as a nesting site for solitary bees. To educate visitors to the St. Louis Zoo about the project, my design concept was chosen as a display that now lives in the Zoo right next to the insectarium. Each sign sits in a large pot with seasonal vegetation. (see last two photos)
