How might we help people experiencing poverty meet their needs through app design?
Helping Hands is a company that helps people experiencing poverty meet their needs through the help of others. To create a sense of community and empower those in need of help.
HELPING HANDS MOBILE APPLICATION
Every member will create an account, no matter if they are needing a hand or lending a hand. The members who are needing a hand will then choose from the options provided which include food/fabric allergies and clothing, food, monetary assistance.
The last image is the view from the members who are lending a hand. The members can filter by category to make it easier to donate.

PROPOSAL
My proposal is to create a space where people experiencing poverty around central Indiana (would eventually be in all of Indiana, and the U.S.) can communicate with Helping Hands and provide a list of necessities. Over 80% of people experiencing homelessness/poverty have cell phones, so an app would be created for the person to write a list of items needed. The Helping Hands app will be updated real-time as new members and new items are added. Members who make donations can stay up-to-date with items needed for donation. If someone who is displaced does not have access to a cell phone, there are also sign-up forms around central Indianapolis which are picked up by Helping Hands, daily. Helping Hands wants to create a community amongst the individuals and their families needing assistance and the donors. This concepts is important in empowering our members who are experiencing poverty and homelessness.
