Taking A Stand Project

In this poster balance was crucial because “Taking A Stand” is so big and creates such a huge emphasis and could potentially lose the viewer. So I balanced the title with the bottom of the ad. I enlarge the PBS logo and emphasized the date to create a visual hierarchy & repetition of the larger letters seen in the title. I aligned the title in the middle and logo to the left and text to the right to create a better flow instead of the viewer just looking up and down the paper now looking at the whole paper. I kept the poster black and white cause I felt like there already was a lot of emphasis going on and adding a gray-scale would lose flow of the poster and attention of the viewer. By having the poster only in black and white this it creates more of a contrast and makes the black positive space pop out. I also used the negative space by having spacing out the altered text evening to create balance and repetition of the use of space by doing this I enhanced the flow and making it easier on the viewers eyes. For the type I kept them all similar to create good flow and repetition of similar fonts and not disconnect the poster or disengage the viewer. The A was kept unaltered to show how it can be surrounded by all this chaos and change but it still sticks up for itself and stays unchanged. The unaltered A creates this contrast in the piece and stands out to the viewer. By having it be surrounded by altered text it shows it emphasizes the A in a different way. So when any viewer looks at the poster the emphasis is either “taking” & “stand” or the A. Regardless the whole title creates emphasis and contrast.
