Story:
The images illustrate living within the constrictions set by external factors one cannot change nor disobey. Portraying the Self as fish or school of fish helps depict the disconnect between the Self and other humans. The illustrations show two different "higher" powers — natural and anthropogenic — both creating a different set of boundaries. We can see the fish seeking refuge in nature, which becomes more and more altered by the human presence. The laws of nature offer comfort, as they are not constrictive to the fish. The fish can willingly live in harmony with the natural laws. The restrictions created by humans, however, slowly suffocate the voiceless fish and leave them powerless. They cannot but listen to the orders from people in positions of power.

Technique:
Drawings combining the traditional and digital approaches. Using the traditional painting technique of a solid color underpaint or, in this case, an under-layer. Leaving the under-layer untouched in some parts of the digital drawings and letting it be part of the visual story. The bold, bright, saturated negative space helps underline the distress in the illustrations.
