Created custom chess pieces, a custom chess board, and correspondence postcards for long distance chess games. When I was a kid my father played chess by mail so for his retirement I made him a custom board and postcards so he could continue in this tradition.
Pieces were designed using Composite Condensed, a typeface designed by William C. Page in 1870 that I came across in Rob Roy Kelly’s, American Wood Type 1828-1900. A complete specimen was provided to me by the Rob Roy Kelly Collection, currently at the University of Texas, Austin.
