Philosophy of Design: Robotic Alarm Clock
In the Spring of 2018, I took Philosophy of Design, a course that focused on creativity, the design process and understanding the consumer. In this course we had 10 weeks to work with a group of 4 through the entire design process. This began with being assigned a target audience, ours being parents of preschoolers. From here, we had to build empathy and aim to understand our consumers' troubles. Through interviews, market research and observing drop-off and pick up and local elementary schools our group gathered that mobilizing children to get out the door in the morning is very difficult for parents. We created a rolling alarm clock that follows children and keeps them up to task on their morning routine. Through this I learned the importance of project management, team communication as well as rapid prototyping.
