Senior Project - Using Radio Frequency to Dry Raisins
PROBLEM STATEMENT: River Ranch Raisins currently uses expensive, labor-intensive and inefficient processes to dry their raisins. They dry roughly twelve thousand tons of raisins a year, which costs upward of $300 per ton of raisins for labor, gas and energy expenditures. As a small, family business, River Ranch Raisins must lower their production costs to stay competitive in a larger market. This needs to occur without sacrificing the coveted taste and texture of their signature raisins. They’re seeking a more automated and energy-efficient drying method.
