Facing the unknown we tend to seek something that brings us the sense of familiarity. A past even imagined. When living in a new city, where we are strangers, we will never cross by any acquaintance in the streets. No one is familiar. Even though, we can recognize these strangers passersby as the daily characters that are common to every city, everywhere. Or imagine them, when in fact we do not see. The sight is influenced by what it has already seen, so it tries to repeat these scenes that remain in mind. “Somewhere between here and there” is the title of a series of collages that mixture images from Adelaide - Australia and Porto Alegre – Brasil, in a relationship between memory and the experience of discovering a new place.
