Non-Migraine Headaches

Quite possibly the most widely recognized kinds of pain is a headache. Many individuals resort to over-the counter medications to alleviate their headache, instead of trying to eliminate its cause. 27% of patients with headaches look for alternative types of therapy, with the most well-known being chiropractic care. The following is an outline of the most widely recognized types of non-migraine headaches. (For information on migraine headaches, please see the article "What is a Migraine Headache?")
Tension Headache
These headaches are frequently more terrible in the afternoon or early evening. The pain is usually on the two sides of the head and/or around the eyes. Tension headaches can last for quite a long time or weeks, and travel every which way throughout a significant stretch of time. They are occasionally assuaged with over-the-counter analgesics. Delicate points and tight muscles are usually found in the neck. Profound massage to the muscles at the back of the head and neck helps, as does ultrasound and moist heat to the same area. Supplement choices include valerian root and passionflower for stress decrease, and magnesium and calcium for muscle tension.
Cervicogenic Headache
Cervicogenic headaches frequently present with a decrease in neck movement and associated neck pain. They are because of referral from the delicate tissues and joints in the neck. The headache is usually more regrettable with head development. The primary recommended type of treatment is chiropractic manipulation of the neck.
Group Headache
These headaches, which are looked about the eyes, are more normal in moderately aged males. They "group" over days or weeks and then end, and appear again a long time or months later. Group headaches typically begin at the same time each day or night. They are brief, lasting an average of 30 minutes, but they are extremely intense. During an attack, there is frequently tearing and a runny nose on the same side as the headache. There is usually a history of smoking and possible alcohol abuse. The cause of group headaches is obscure. Group headaches generally decrease in recurrence and intensity as the individual ages. Conservative management includes moist heat, trigger point therapy, ultrasound, and spray-and-stretch to diminish muscle tension; cervical and upper thoracic chiropractic adjustments to decrease contributing joint brokenness; avoidance of screen glare from PCs and televisions; and stress decrease.
Hypertensive Headache
These headaches are pulsing and happen early in the morning. They are associated with hypertension, obesity, stress, lack of exercise, high sodium counts calories, drug sensitivity, kidney disease, and heart disease. Hypertensive headaches please when pulse is 200/120 mm Hg or higher. The headaches can be at the highest point of the head, the front of the head, or the back of the head, and can be generalized or uneven. The headache may become more regrettable when reclining and is less extreme when seated. Management includes dietary modifications (high fiber, low salt); avoidance of caffeine, high fat, sugar, and alcohol; and moderate exercise.
Sinus Headaches
These headaches are attributable to inflammation of the mucosa of the sinuses from allergies or bacterial or viral infections. The headache is generally felt over the forehead and cheeks, and occasionally around the teeth and behind the ears. Sinus headaches are more awful in the morning and are aggravated or diminished by head position, which may help or hinder nasal drainage. Conservative treatment alternatives include avoiding known allergens, correcting areas of cervical brokenness that may hinder sinus drainage, and using a vaporizer or hot packs on the face to clear sinus blockage. Anti-inflammatory spices like turmeric, ginger, and feverfew are of some benefit.
