Themes of decay and disintegration and dark versus light are explored in this experimental binding of William Golding's classic, Lord of the Flies. The outer casing of the text is created using vac formed plastic over an mdf form. The text itself is cradled in a separate, custom
formed mould, which, in concept, is protected from the ravages of the air by a foil seal. Once the seal is broken the book quickly begins to decay to a point of total disintegration.
The text is printed onto bible paper and is created using french folds and japanese stitching.
