Since we are all stuck inside, I wanted to paint a mural for my new home office. Step away from the computer or ipad and work with my hands. I couldn't bear the idea of having to paint over it when we moved, so I decided to paint on a room divider I bought off Amazon. This way I can take it with me when we move!

This project posed a number of challenges. Buying the right paint, coating a slated surface without having it drip on the wall, on the floor, on myself, or on my cat. I also wasn't sure if I should go with this moody design that potentially wouldn't match with anything, or for a nicer-bluer-cuter one.

In the end, all the hard work was worth it. And when in doubt *always* go moody folks.
First Steps
The first thing I did was figure out what I wanted to paint. I had just started working on my tarot card designs and was having fun with the angular cut-out style. But in order to plan properly I needed a flat image of the divider so I could draw on top of that and use it as a map to plan out the rest. It boiled down to a choice between these two directions.

I decided to go with black and white because I really loved it, especially with the addition of the red smoke.
