Flora mobile app- UI Design

Visual Design Languages and better UX
Flora is a mobile app that enables users to stay off their phones and be focused on productivity. A successful visual design does not take away from the content or function. Instead, it enhances it by engaging users and helping to build trust and interest in the product.

I’ve chosen to define the visual design language of Flora because it's a good example of how visual design languages help with better user experience. When looking at a mobile app, we can usually immediately say whether it is appealing or badly designed. However, what makes Flora unique? Without any design guidelines, it’s difficult to determine design success.

It’s easy enough to create UI components in Figma or Illustrator, but it’s incredibly hard to make them look consistent and work the best for users. UI design isn’t about creating buttons or tabs, all those components are building blocks of a design system. A good design system can motivate a user to engage, play, and transact with the system. A poor interface can confuse the user and ends up with the user’s frustration. After defining the visual design languages, I had a better understanding of colour theories, the use of illustrations and copywriting.
