Ice 9 anniversary logo redesign
Andrey Blednyy reached out to us with a task to make a new ice logo for the upcoming anniversary of the band. We’ve tried 15 different versions of shapes, color, and transparency to mold water molecules into a total Ice IX.
We slightly changed the shapes of the logo for it to feel different and new, but keeping the overall silhouette still recognizable. We made the shapes out of rough ice fragments, added cracks, chipped off edges, air bubbles.
We showed the result to Andrey and got the green light to proceed. We outlined the second, more aggressive version of the shape.
Andrey said it looked more like glass or rock, but not like ice. So we went back to the previous version. We increased the realism: finalized the shapes of the ice blocks, added small details, toned down or removed colored lighting.
We picked out two final versions, polished them and showed to the client. Andrey picked the second version.
