Andy Warhol, American artist, film director, and producer
"A good picture is one that's in focus and of a famous person doing something infamous."

Andy Warhol
In 1949, Andy Warhol wanted to participate in an exhibition of local artists in his hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He sent in a painting of a boy defiantly picking his nose. The painting was called The Broad Gave Me My Face, but I Can Pick My Own Nose. Half the jury thought the work was great, and the other half thought it was a gross scandal. The work was rejected.
In this portrait I refer to that infamous act. And to the Factory, his studio, which was covered with aluminum foil.
