A rather simple 3D Printed Soap Dish with Single Sided Drainage.
SD-06 is a 3D printed soap dish, conceived and manufactured at home. Iu utilises a minimal utilitarian design language and is mostly made up of straight lines and small round corners. The drainage in this soap dish is single sided (with an incline inside to thrust the water) to suit keeping it on a platform in any(my) bathroom allowing the water to be easily directed towards the drainage of the wash area.
Why a soap dish?
The regular soap dish I had been using, fell down and broke in half. Well it was then I started looking for a new soap dish. I looked around from small shops to high end lifestyle brands to online products. But i couldn't put my finger on it.
So then I did what anyone with a 3D printer lying around would do; I made one up.

Then i convert all my mind wandering into a 3d file in Blender3D and pour that into an stl file and hook it into my 3D printer.
Results
Well the result was surprisingly ok, unlike usual 3d prints which need a lot of tweaking. I did go through a few iterations and print settings to get it better.
Storm Drains and emotional design.
Well I don't know about you, but whenever i see a storm drain, i can almost immediately sense a smell of water, and hear the sound of a gentle flow. I wanted to bring this sensory experience to the soap dish drainage. As you might have already noticed the mesh/bed on which the soap will sit looks very much like a storm drain cover.
Form evokes emotion, doesn't it?

Evocative/Emotional/Functional
The M-03 mesh is just the rendition of the storm drain concept compressed down to a hand held size. It performs its function rather well by allowing maximum drainage of water away from the soap and hence keeps the soap dry immediately when placed after use. It is also a design which minimises the use of materials and maximises the tensile strength needed to support a bar of soap for an extended period of time.
