During this project my project group members and I were given the assignment to create a high-fidelity prototype for a local municipality website and making it accessible. Although being aware that designing for accessibility includes everyone, we didn't have enough time in these 8 weeks to focus on all target groups. So we decided to narrow the main target audience down to: people with visual impairments.
In addition to creating a high fidelity prototype, an accessibility tool has been developed to make the website of the municipality of Leeuwarden more accessible. The tool is a menu which can be found on the left side of every page. Special tools can be activated via this tool. This allows the user to adapt the website to his / her needs. The speech and color functions for example, dark mode and contrast can be reached through the accessibility tool.
