And a new Volcano was born

After tens of thousands of earthquakes occurring only 30km away from Reykjavik, Iceland's capital, sometimes waking us up in the middle of the night, a eruption finally took place on Friday the 19th of March of the year 2021. Located in the youngest part of Iceland, the Reykjanes peninsula, it's almost the first time since Iceland's settlement, a bit more than 1000 years ago, that an eruption takes place so close to what is now the most populated region of the country. Called a "tourist eruption" by the locals, this newborn volcano is so far actually harmless and easily approachable. These pictures were taken during four different visits, witnessing the evolution of the volcano from day one to day eleven. And it's probably not going to be the last time I pay a visit to this Earth Wonder, especially since the eruption is told to last for weeks, months or even maybe years !
