Movement and Emphasis
Name THREE minor points of emphasis. How do they show emphasis (contrasting what?) How do they add meaning to the art, i.e. – what do they communicate? (3 pts. each)
1)      One minor point of emphasis is the moon because they contrast the sky.  It is abnormally large therefore, creates more emphasis on it.  It adds meaning to the art because it goes alone with the quote that is a leading line to it.  The moon communicates possibilities and dreams.

2)      Another minor point of emphasis is the last picture leading to the main focal point.  That last picture shows emphasis because it contrasts with the focal point picture.  It is the last picture therefore all the other pictures are leading up to it.  It adds meaning to the art because it is the last step in my high school career before I go off to the college (the city).  That last picture communicates the finish line and completion or accomplishment.

3)      The final minor point of emphasis is the picture before the last one and all the other pictures before it lead up to that one.  It contrasts the pictures before it because it is yet another step in my life. It adds more meaning to the art because without that step the project wouldn’t show an important stage in my life.  The picture communicates the past and what has already come.

What is the major point of emphasis (THE FOCAL POINT). What causes is to stand out (describe using elements and principles). How does it add meaning to the art, i.e. – what does it communicate?  (3 pts.)

The major point of emphasis, the focal point, is the most recent picture of me walking on water.  It stands out because of several lines that lead to it.  There are also color patterns that lead the eye to it.  The similar shapes of the footprints also lead up to it.  This adds meaning to the art because it is the final step in high school and it shows that I am moving/walking on to college (the city).  My focal point communicates completion and continuation.
Space

Does the Focal Point fall near a “rule of thirds” area? (1 pt.)

Yes because the focal point isn’t right in the center.

Describe what is in the foreground. (1 pt.)

The beach is in the foreground along with the footprints, stones, seaweed, and the first couple past pictures.

Describe what is in the middle ground: (1 pt.)

The focal point and other past pictures are in the middle ground as well as the remaining footprints, the text, and the waves moving towards the beach.

Describe what is in the background: (1 pt.)
The skyline is in the background along with the moon and the text along the top of the skyline.
