This project has started like this : I've received as commission to make a painting for a wedding gift.

With, as reference, this old work of minean abstract artwork from my old Optilabs series of 2011.

Below you can see from A to Z how I've designed the artwork from simple vector linework, then the coloring, the textures, photo-shots of print tests, the framed final piece.

Following, four new pieces and some design applications of them on product, fashion and other stuff.
First version, dotted gradients overlayed as shades of black, making darker areas of the same color.
Unfortunately, it wasn't ok.
I've had to print it again the piece, the print was designed to be 150 cm of width and 100 of height,
but the biggest frame I've found (at Ikea, artisanal price in Italy are killers) was 100 x 70.
Taken the chance to put a different dotted texture to the artwork.
Gradient dots on white for black areas, black dots on colored areas.
Looks better look than the first version.
Print is ready. Pack it and go to the wedding (I'm invited too).
Framing problem solved, thanks to Ikea.
Ribba rules.
PS. I was going to a wedding party to give to the bride the artwork.
That's why I have a jacket, shirt and tie.

However, the gift has been appreciated a lot.
With the promise by the newlyweds to send me some pics of it on their home wall.
After the honeymoon, of course.
And I've called it Mosaic.
Now it's time to develope it.
A different structure for the linework, only curves, no straight lines allowed or freehand intentional inaccurate drawing, and no dots texture, leaving the final composition more clean.
Mosaic n. 2 / graphic process
Mosaic n.2 / print / v.1-2
DIY photographs at home with bad home lighting at extra late night hour.
Part one.
This second structure, instead, has no curves, just straight lines.
The same for the dots, the cleaner the better.
Mosaic n. 2 / graphic process
Mosaic n.3 / print / v.1-2
DIY photographs at home with bad home lighting at extra late night hour.
Part two.
A series of mockups of possible textured applications of Mosaic on different items.
It could work on multiple fields, from furniture to fashion.
