Carte de Visite
Photography project inspired by Ibu Kartini (Indonesia)
SHORT HISTORY
This project was inspired by a feminist in Indonesia, R.A. Kartini, a prominent Indonesian activist who advocated for women's rights and female education. She was an intellectual who elevated the status of Indonesian women and a nationalist figure with modern ideas, who struggled on behalf of her people and played a role in the national struggle for independence.

INSPIRATION
As Kebaya and Batik were two of the most popular traditional fashion statements during Kartini's era, it is common to see women dressed up in Kebaya and put their hair in a low-rise bun, with minimum accessories.
TECHNICAL
There's some color fixing and filter applied using Adobe Photoshop to recreate the vintage vibes of "Carte de Visite" look. The photos are taken in colours, before being converted to black and white, then applied with two-tone filter, orange and black. Grain texture was added on the last step of the editing to recreate that "textured-retro" vibes.
