Hamadaya Soy Sauce Branding

Background:

Bidor Kwong Heng, a reputable Malaysian soy sauce merchant partnered with Japan's Hamadaya Shoyu to launch this new range of premium Japanese soy sauces.

Not only is the brand 'halal-certified', but it also uses Hamadaya's 200 year old time-tested recipe to create a supreme product capable of delivering a wonderful aroma & an exquisite yet exceptional taste

Their sauces are also recognized by Monde Selection and International Taste Institute for their excellence in product quality.
Challenge:

Time was crucial.

We had to get all their deliverables ready within one month, so their products could be submitted to major retail networks to be qualified & listed for launching immediately.

This meant that the project timeline was incredibly tight & that every second was critical to the brand's successful launch in the market.

Hence, communication with our clients was extremely important in this scenario as we needed to meet various deadlines within record time.
Solution:

To beat this challenge, we started off by laying down the 'big idea' for the key visuals, which focused on capturing the personality traits of the 'Hamadaya' family name & its 200 year old time-tested recipe

This helped bring out the brand's positioning in communicating the idea that quality is never compromised in their products, as demonstrated by the Japanese culture.
From there, we worked towards various visual conceptualizations, which was then adapted onto all of the physical & digital deliverables.

For instance, their website as shown below.
As more consumers continue to spend & shop online, it would be a waste if businesses didn't try to capitalize on this opportunity.

Thus, Hamadaya's website was born.

This allowed customers to easily buy the premium sauces while getting any relevant updates & releases from the brand in the scenario of lockdowns or physical restrictions.
Another example is the key visuals that had to stay consistent with the product's packaging design.

To bring that out, we blended several elements such as the 'Rising Sun', Nihongo language & various graphical illustrations associated with Japan in a minimalistic manner.
This resulted in communicating a strong visual identity for the brand, which serves to position them as the premium choice for customers who are looking to delight their taste-buds in an exceptional manner.

After all, the goal was to communicate important ideals revolving the brand's culture, excellencequality at first glance.
As time passed, each deliverable became easier & quicker to develop without compromising on the already tight project timeline.

Physicals included print deliverables such as POSMs, product brochures, packaging design, gift boxes and more.

Digital deliverables consists of web design, social media collaterals, ad banners and etc.
Alongside that, several fun stickers were also created to make the gift box even more attractive to consumers of sorts.
Through sheer determination & a well-planned strategy, our countless hours of hard work with our clients helped them pull this project off with great success, resulting in the brand being warmly welcomed & well-received by consumers across several countries, such as Malaysia.
