"SINGING IN THE RAIN" meets "TOTORO"!!!
I have always enjoyed Old 50's and 60's musicals. Still watch them regularly...that being said, I have loved "Totoro" and Miyazawki art and movies for a long, long time. So one evening I was watching "Singing in the Rain" and it just hit me..."Totoro would LOVE to sing in the rain!!! He loves the rain!!!" LOL and this art is the result of that one thought. I hope that the art honors Miyazawki, because I have always admired his storytelling and artistic talents.
This is the first of three prints, the other two soon to follow. Using some of my favorite Anime movies, and also some of my favorite Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly musicals.
Everything starts with rough thumbnails.
Pencil for "Totoro", then adding the other characters, after illustrating them and the city scape to match the movie "Singing in the Rain."
Inking of "Totoro" to then be digitally colored and added on to the rest of the art.
