I created this vector illustration while doing some design exploration for my online branding. Here's the process:
Step 1: Picked a picture, removed the background and color... Except for the red
Step 2: Created an abstract background using the color red from the scarf as the starting point. I also thought that a solid, geometrical shape would work to enhance the contrast between the subject and the background
Step 3: Tested the subject with the background and it didn't look right
Step 4: Drew a rough, minimalist vector resembling a low polygon count model in Illustrator, only using a handful of shades for each element seen in the drawing
Step 5: Added noise and shadows in Photoshop
