The year 2020 changed all of our lives, and one thing in particular, was travel. As much as anyone else I loved to travel outside of my known territory twice a year to get some amazing landscape shots, but this year was different. For a long time now I was being drawn more and more to the unknown places in the alps that I never visited before and I started to get more bored with shooting all too familiar locations around my home, Istria. In my early days of photography, I was out there every day exploring every corner of Istria and I shot almost everything there is, and through the years that got old. It's not like I ever stopped shooting it, but I rather lost any joy in doing that. In 2020 as the travel stopped I felt a bit trapped not being able to do my annual travel and I was ready for a year that will probably end up with zero landscape photography except some occasional snapshots. As the world got to a full stop and there was no stress from work I slowly got back to that creative mindset and I felt once again like I'm back in 2013. and there were places around me ready to be explored. I started to enjoy going back to old familiar places with new ideas and trying to pull something new or better out of them. This time as well I got some new tools that helped a lot in getting some new perspectives that were impossible to get back in the early days. In the end, I ended up with a year full of photographs that fell among my personal favorites and that we're a lot more personal since I was shooting places close to my heart and not some big unknowns.
