Isle of Reflections 2021

Isle of Reflections is an online interactive lighting installation. This work utilizes Zoom, as a new means for exhibiting and experiencing interactive art installations, particularly during this pandemic when physical contact and travel are limited. Viewers can only virtually visit the island filled with iridescent lights and colorful reflections through Zoom. When the viewers see the lights and shadows that respond immediately to their voice through the screen, they realize that they are interacting with a distant physical space in real-time. The viewers move between breakout rooms in Zoom to explore this virtual but "real" island. Each room provides live scenes of the island from different angles.
Isle of Reflections was presented at the ACM SIGGRAPH 2021 Art Gallery, one of the renowned international venues for innovative interactive artworks. The artwork also won the Red Dot Award 2021: Best of the Best, which is given to the most creative design concepts, ideas, and visions.
