Meet Josef Cohen and Titus Brandsma.
Two clergy-men from the 20th century who are connected to Dokkum. The first, a Jew who became a protestant preacher of the Dutch Reformed Church, the second one a catholic monk, a mystic and the founder of the first catholic university in The Netherlands after the reformation. What both have in common is, that they where opponents of the Nazi regime and after being arrested, died in 1942 in the concentration camp of Dachau. Both where used as human guinea pigs and died by injection of a deadly fluid. For me, they are hero's. No matter what one believes in, as long as it stands for the right of freedom of speech and the the respect of life, no matter what colour or religion. We are all citizens of EARTH. We cannot escape as yet from our world.
