Ronin Artisanal Sake draws from the 18th century event known as the “Ako Incident”. It is also known as “Chushingura”, which is the title given to the fictionalized accounts of the historical event, notably the film The Loyal 47 Ronin. The artwork borrows from woodblock print by Kuniyoshi (1847) and is also inspired by the work of Japanese graphic designer Tadanori Yokoo.
