The Joyas Voladoras

The hummingbird is known to be the fastest bird due to the proportion of its wings to the body of the bird. The bird has an enlarged heart for efficient pumping, which supports faster wing beats. The term Joyas Voladoras means Flying Jewels which are also used as another name for the humming bird due to its bright and iridescent feature.

The tessellation attempts to capture the humming bird's essence: the speed and its iridescence. The Fibonacci spiral of the pattern depicts the speed of the bird, while the varied colour within the circles illustrates the iridescence feathers.
