Partnership between Artesanias de Colombia S.A. and the regional government of Boyacá.

Conceptualization of the collection and design proposals

Concept: 
ETNO: Products made from local raw materials, loaded with pre-colonial and colonial history and significance. 
NEO: Contrast of contemporary life and the richness of the traditional. Mixtures of materials and different techniques.
ECO: Re-signification of the waste object through re-use or recycling processes, linking the various craft techniques.

Objective:
Harmonize the collection with the work of the various laboratories in the country, identify ourselves as a region and raise the perceived value of handcrafted products. 
Some Product Proposals:
Inspired by : Pictograms and artifacts of the Muisca indigenous culture.
Production of approved proposals: 

Guidelines:
Make functional products (lengthen their life span).
Minimize the impact of production (water pollution, energy consumption and care of raw materials).
Pilot production to be presented at Expoartesanías 2013 (international handicrafts showroom in Bogotá, Colombia). 
Co-Design work with the artisans of the assigned communities.
All products with the Handmade label of Artesanías de Colombia S.A. 

Results: 

Promotion and marketing of the region's handicrafts at international fairs: Expoartesanías 2013  (Bogotá, Colombie) and Expoartesano 2014 (Medellín, Colombie). Estimated sales of about $19,000 US.
Development of 3 product lines per municipality in charge.
Bank of photographs for government cultural events and publicity material for the handicraft sector of the region and the country. 
Design and marketing workshops for artisans.
Stand at Exporatesanías 2013 to promote the region's artisan knowledge through the exhibition, the storytelling of the craftsmanship and the marketing of the products made during this co-design work.
