Nama - Department Store Rebranding

Personal project of rebranding the „Nama“, department store located in Zagreb, Croatia.

Nama is the oldest department store in Zagreb, originally started as „Kastner i Öhler“ in late 1870s. Kastner and Öhler, the founders, had their own business policies that attracted customers because they were not forced to buy if they entered the store. The door was open to everyone, and sightseeing was considered normal and desirable. The "Kastner and Öhler" department store was known for its luxurious and spacious shop windows. After the Second World War, the department store was renamed to Nama (Narodni Magazin – national store), and continued the great tradition. However, in recent decades Nama lost its leading market position. Nevertheless, many generations of citizens fondly remember the great shopping experience and glow of this remarkable store.

The goal of this project was to revitalize the brand Nama through detailed rebranding that included visual identity redesign and new verbal messaging. The starting point of the logo redesign process was the motif of Nama’s arch-shaped entrances that inspired custom shaped letters in new logo.
