Ofrenda a las Arcades

"Ofrenda a las Arcades"

The DevHour MX it's an international forum for game developers in Mexico City, this year they presented this art gallery about the theme: "Ofrenda a los videojuegos", where the selected artists created a poster as a tribute to one fallen videogame series, company or console as if it was a traditional "ofrenda" (like an altar) from the "dia de los muertos" (Day of the Dead).

I chose the Arcades in general, they were so important in México for the kids/teenagers culture on 80's and 90's but now they are almost gone, and it's kind of rare to found one.

In México the arcades was called "maquinitas" or "chispas", depends the region, and they were very popular on the "tortillerias" (where you can buy tortillas freshly made) I played a lot on one of these as a kid, that's why you can see some tortillas on the poster. Another very popular place to look for an arcade was on the pharmacies.
