In early July 2019 I was able to fly across the Icelandic landscape photographing through an open window of a Cessna. The view was breathtaking. And so is the detailed look at the breaking glaciers. As much as it is normal for crevasses to appear, I could not help thinking of global warming and the effect it has on the shrining Icelandic glaciers.
Like scars in the ice. These enormous crevasses can be more than 100 meters long and sometimes reach more than several hundred meters deep. Usually those cracks are well hidden underneath the snow. But in summer you can see countless crevasses on glaciers such as Vatnajökull.
