Wishbones, 2013
Wish-making is a universal concept, we have hopes and desires everyday. Wishful thinking is replaced with concrete, rational, realistic, or practical ideas as we mature. There are few adults who get as excited as a child to throw a coin into a fountain, or blow away their fallen eyelashes to make a wish. Wishbones are also a common way for people to make a wish, especially when young. To make the wish you have to break the bone with another person, and the person who ends up with the larger portion of the bone has their wish “granted”. Concrete is a definitive idea, something real, a tangible belief. It is a loss of innocence, making an abstract belief into a physical and negating form.
