Video Title Cards (Graphic Design)

Recently, I had the pleasure of working with my very first (paid) client!

I was approached to design a couple Video Title Cards* for the London Office of the Falkland Island Government (FIGO)**.

*I had to google what they're called so you may not know what they are... They're the frame at the beginning of a video that has a title on them and maybe a bit of branding. Not to be confused with a video thumbnail (but can also be used as that really).

**My husband is from the islands so hence the connection.

The client wanted to get two designs - one more colourful and modern for their more fun content, and one more traditional for their more serious content.

I started by coming up with the colour palette and font pairings in line with their existing brand, and after some sketching I created nine initial designs per colour palette.
I presented my favourite ones to the client and they picked their preferred layouts from there. They then also asked for some changes to the first colour palette and font pairing to ensure the look of the government office remained somewhat traditional. I also created a fun bonus design for their gay pride video which I loved. As a final adjustment, they asked the ratio to be changed from 4:3 (as initially requested) to 16:9.
I really enjoyed this little project and the client was pleased with the end result! Working through the process, I can really see how the visuals developed into the right fit for this client. It was great to see how mine and the client's ideas merged to find the perfect solution for them.
