L'Ora— Osservatorio Sui Segni del Tempo, is a Center that conducts multidisciplinary research on the notion of time, taking into account the present time, and also its origins, past, and future.
In addition, the name l'ora, has a double meaning: it stands for 'now', present time, but also 'time', as in "What time is it?". The expression segni del tempo translates to 'the signs of the times', encompassing a sociological approach.

Main Symbol
Although not directly inspired in the dial of an analog wrist watch, our proposal stems from the same basic concepts, developing them with forms inspired in analog electric watch displays that are also reminiscent of modernist design.
The composition is presented as a two-line block, misaligned, as to represent change and movement. The width of the individual characters varies, not only to try to individualize their forms and to increase the internal dynamics of the symbol, but also to create an approximation to ancestral architectural forms.
Symbol & logo
The logo is composed in Trajan, a classic serif inspired by timeless traditional roman letterforms. Trajan also shares some of the basic proportions of the letters designed for the symbol.
Alternative solution for vertical compositions.

Grayscale version and grayscale and high contrast on dark background.

A small scale solution in a typical context of composition in tandem with other logos.

Quick draft of the application in a simple A4 letterhead.
