Orientation systems guide and make it easier for people to explore different countries, cities, towns and complex buildings by having the design itself help them locate their destinations and work out a plan of movement. In today's multilingual and multicultural world, orientation systems are increasingly based on pictures versus words. This stems from situations in societies where there is a low literacy rate. And the universality of images provides intelligibility at every level of literacy.
