Lighthouse of the scarlet dawn

I’m delighted to share this recent work with you through my painting “Lighthouse of the crimson dawn” I painted this recently, and am continung with elements of work explored during a dark period of my life several years ago, embracing those emotions through the ocean’s power and majesty.

Beneath the the crimson skies of the dawn, the tall dark structure stands. For eons it has stood against the battering storms, the cyclones, the relentless power of the ocean.

Within its walls sits the caretaker. Last in the line of many caretakers who have been the protectors of the thousands of unwary craft wandering into the treacherous waters. Warning them off with its powerful lantern to divert their course away to the safe waters of the harbour up the coast.

Soon the time of the caretakers will end and the light will shine no longer, the peril will be real once more.
