While most controllers are mapped to a joystick (pushing forward = robot moving forward), we wanted to explore other forms of mapping, specifically tilt mapping. The controller is essentially mapped to the slope the robot is on, the steeper the slope, the faster the robot moves in the direction the slope is facing.
These mappings each have their advantage. While the traditional joystick mapping is better for finer movements, they require a hand and fingers to control them.
The advantage of tilt based control is that you can control it with the tilt of a wrist or your head, leaving your hands free to control other aspects of the device. This allows for more functionality of a device overall, when there are other aspects to a device that require finer control than movement.
