Cork for Cara Magazine
Cork is an island and although connected by many bridges, I got the feeling that most people would be happy to float away on this self contained real republic.
We were sent by Cara, the Aer Lingus in-flight magazine to cover cultural Cork. One feature probably wasn’t enough to cover all of the happening cultural things going on in the rebel city.
We had a list but went a bit AWOL to find some gems, these included Arthur Mayne’s, a 120 year old chemist turned wine bar, a funny mural depicting Roy Keane as Chairman Mao and a currach community know as Meitheal Mara or ‘workers of the sea’.
