I have been DJing since 2000 and parallel to my music passion I find quite interesting the evolution of DJ technology.This interest lead to the proposal of this touchscreen mixer concept during my HCI course. I did a paper prototype and then an interactive prototype to assess the usability of such a system.
The concept was taking an existing 2 channel mixer and adding a touch screen, an audio interface and a hardrive.
My goal was to propose an integral solution that would implement the features of modern Digital Vinyl Systems, while providing an intuitive, non obstructing touch interface. This device would be stand-alone and the DJ would not need a computer to mix.
Although this project was just a concept, I would love to see it realized into a final product.
