I made this costume for New York Comic Con, but ultimately chose not to wear it... I don't like being the center of attention, and this costume would've definitely gotten me noticed. I designed, draped, and sewed the corset bodysuit first. I used metal spiral boning and green cotton fabric, with green cotton bias tape to finish the back area, bust area, and leg holes. To make the leaves, I cut a skin of textured blue leather in to leaf shapes of varying sizes. Then, I laid them out and spray painted them green on both sides. After letting them dry, I positioned the leaves in a pattern across the corset bodysuit. I was running short on time before NYCC so, instead of stitching them to the bodice, I hot glued each leaf to the bodice and the leaves beneath it. Having finished positioning and fixing all the leaves on the corset, I decided to create a subtle gradient down the costume. I began smudging red paint by hand on the upper corset leaves, and transitioned to black paint on the lower leaves. I plan to follow up with photos of this costume being modeled in the near future.
