Book Concept based on the popular Nineties Cartoon show "The Rugrats"
The Wild Thornberrys and The Rugrats are two examples out of the many much loved cartoon series in the Nineties. These book cover concepts are based on these cartoons but with a dark twist. There have been many conspiracy theories dotted around the internet, rumoured that there are some sinister realities behind the wide eyed cheery vibrant characters that Nineties kids used to watch on the big-boned TV screens. In turn, the concepts are in relation to the conspiracy theories based on the main characters such as Eliza Thornberry in The Wild Thornberrys and Tommy Pickles from the Rugrats turning the genre into psychological thrillers aimed at the adults that were once children watching these heart-warming cartoons. In both books covers, simple objects that relate to the characters are presented as the main asset to capture the audience and draw them in. The typography used was based on the logos of each cartoon series so that it keeps some of the nostalgia and remains recognisable.
