ARE WE WHO WE ARE?

ARE WE WHO WE ARE?

My work explores the unseen side of every human being, the real face behind the mask we wear every day. We are not who we present to the world. The battles we fight daily, the scars of the battles we fought, the bruises from fighting every day, the struggle to be okay, and our deteriorating mental health are concealed simply by putting on a mask in the hope society accepts us. The  art piece shows a girl with 3 faces on one right side she’s taking her  “fake smile” mask off to reveal her blood-crying face with “silence” on top of her lips. And on the left side, a devil seems to be behind her. But in reality, she is the devil, the devil represents her inner demons. The blood tears symbolize the abuse she suffers, the tears represent her pain and the “silence” tape on her mouth shows that she can’t speak up and she has been silenced as she does not want the world to know what she goes through.
