100 Heads was a personal project dedicated to learning the capabilities of Photoshop's available tools, and how they can be used in combination with one another to create effects in my own drawings. I hoped that 100 would be enough to exhaust the possibilities, but found toward the end that I could have kept going - and may continue to create more Heads in my spare time.

The starting point was this sketchbook drawing I created in 2019, which loosely referenced a dilapidated sculpture I found in a museum. The top-left image was a reflection on its glass case.

Summer of 2020, I participated in Overland Artwork's SHELTER Residency Program, which was a self-initiated, at-home program during the lockdown. Using a projector, I enlarged the sketch onto paper, traced the outline, and drew a refined image based off of the sketch. The drawing is about 20"x20", graphite. I took it into photoshop and masked the negative space surrounding it. After that, I began manipulating the drawing digitally, and logging each edit into a word document to track my actions.

All Heads | One to One Hundred (plus some alternates)

Notes on every iteration, so that I can recreate any of the effects that I've found over the course of this project
