Restyling Website

EN – The design of the website no longer met the current image of the organization. The website had an elegant but dark and sober look and feel. It could use a bit more liveliness. I was asked to restyle the frontend of the site, while maintaining the existing underlying framework/cms.

I chose to add an accent color from the logo to the websites' existing dark color palette. In addition, I used photos in the background to create vibrancy and liveliness behind the content. Initially close-ups of typical objects and textures that occur within the field, later at the request of my client I used pictures of people.

NL – De vormgeving van de bestaande site voldeed niet meer aan het huidige imago van de organisatie. De website had een donkere, chique maar sobere uitstraling en kon wat meer levendigheid gebruiken. Ik kreeg de opdracht om de 'voorkant' van de website te restylen, met behoud van het bestaande achterliggende framework/cms.

Ik heb ervoor gekozen de accentkleur uit het logo –een rode streep– als ondersteunende kleur toe te voegen aan het bestaande donkere kleurenpalet. Daarnaast heb ik in de layout foto's toegevoegd, om levendigheid toe te voegen. Vooral in de achtergrond achter de content. In eerste instantie close-ups van kenmerkende voorwerpen en texturen die binnen het vakgebied voorkomen, later zijn in overleg met de opdrachtgever foto's van mensen bijgekomen.

EN – New design for the website layout. Background I have here deliberately kept simple to focus attention to the content. The background color is a derivative of the accent color red/orange, which is also used in the layout. This concept is based on an alternating accent color for each page, in order to emphasize the diversity of the services.

NL – Nieuw ontwerp voor de layout van de website. Achtergrond heb ik hier bewust eenvoudig gehouden om de aandacht op de content te richten. De achtergrondkleur is een afgeleide van de accentkleur rood/oranje, die in de layout is gebruikt. Dit concept is tevens gebaseerd op een wisselende accentkleur per pagina, dit om de diversiteit van de dienstverlening te onderstrepen.

NL – Een verdere uitwerking op bovenstaand ontwerp. Hier is een onscherpe omgevingsfoto gebruikt als achtergrond. Deze werkt samen met de detailfoto in de header. Dit is een close-up uit dezelfde setting.

EN – Need for greater clarity in my design. The overflow of color is eliminated here by using a black and white background picture. This (b&w) shifts the focus to the colored content of the page. The colored coffee cup is used as a link between the background and the content of the page.

NL – Behoefte aan meer helderheid in mijn ontwerp. De overvloed aan kleur is hier weggenomen door de achtergrondfoto in zwart-wit te gebruiken. Hierdoor verschuift de aandacht naar de content (tekst en informatie) van de pagina. Het gekleurde kopje dient als link tussen de achtergrond en de content van de pagina.
